The perfect introduction for a simple wedding ceremony

I often have couples saying they just want a simple wedding ceremony. I’m OK with that — but the danger is that guests tend to feel a little “ripped off”. They may complain that the wedding was over before it began, or that they travelled a long way to witness… what?

So here’s a way you can welcome your guests, and let them know that it is your choice to have a simple wedding ceremony …

Letting your guests know that the ceremony is about to be short and sweet lets them know to be fully present, and to appreciate every moment in the 10 minutes to come… Fore-warned is fore-armed as the saying goes!

Here’s what I say to introduce a simple ceremony:

Guests, I bring your attention to the word “simply”. This couple are simply, two people in love, which is a love born from friendship, shared mutual respect, and an innate understanding of how to take care of one another. In this vein, I invite you to enjoy this lovely, simple ceremony!
