Following on from a bumper wedding season, second-half of 2022, I’m constantly delighted by the beautiful couples that dance in to my world.
Let’s continue with the 2022/23 season, by kicking off with summer 2023.
the Summer weddings of 2023 🙂
Lauren & Alex: This was a “legals only” service, which I provide to couples that wish a family member (or friend) to present the ceremony. In this case, Alex’s aunty did a fabulous job presenting the ceremony, and I stepped in to do the legal bit, and ensure their marriage is valid. I was thrilled to get feedback from guests afterwards that I was a perfect fit to complete the ceremony.
Claire & Timothy: The groom surprised his bride with an “aisle” of framed photos set up along the beach. The photos were a journey of their lives together, from their teen years at the skate park, through their young adventure years, and into their now years as new parents. The bride arrived near to tears by the gesture, but they were short-lived — we embarked on a delightfully uplifting and relaxed ceremony.
Anthony & Nicole: Back to Hay Shed Hill for yet another gorgeous wedding. I joked to the coordinator that I feel like I should be paying rent, I’m there that often.
Jane & Angela: These two surprised everyone by skipping down the aisle, laughing and giggling, and absolutely enjoying themselves. Cuties, and absolutely, unapologetically themselves!
Josh & Allysha: Back at Hay Shed Hill for the third time in almost as many weeks, and it poured with rain. The ceremony was relocated to the deck area of Rustico, which became a whole new beautiful space thank to the incredible flowers and styling. The smiles could not have been bigger.
Shane & Megan: An intimate ceremony in the backyard of the groom’s family, followed by a windy, blustery photo shoot that made them both look GLAM. Such a happy accident to ride the weather conditions to their advantage.
Etsumi & Danny: Another backyard wedding, deliberately simple, by the courtyard table, and a pared-back script. I did manage to squeeze in an “officially husband and wife” in Japanese, though, which was quietly thrilling to see Japanese guests understand!
Michelle & Nicolas: Super low-key backyard wedding again, only this time with ocean views and a semi-circle of guests dressed beautifully for the occasion. The simple ceremony is exactly what the couple wanted.
Cassia & Daniel: This was about Plan C or Plan D wedding for the couple. They originally booked me for an Augusta elopement, but things grew and morphed, and we ended up at The Stables in Perth. It was a contemporary yet relaxed and happy ceremony, with enough tears to call it a “wet knot”.
Miriam & John: A lovely little stroll through native forest, and a witnesses-only micro wedding by the Margaret River. I have since heard that they’ve given birth to a baby boy, and their cat approves.
Bronte & Giles: Thoroughly modern — they walked down the aisle together, read their personal vows from their phones, and the reception was a picnic style lawn party at a small local winery.
Manfredo & Helen: Fred and Helen met me after Bronte and Giles’ wedding to complete their paperwork, and I married them the next day. Despite only meeting them the day before their wedding, I felt like I’m going to know them forever. We nearly got blown off the beach, it was that windy, so the couple were super chill about wrapping things up early to get to the reception and into relative calm.
Autumn 2023
James & Samantha: James rocked up in his naval uniform and bloody hell if every girl there wasn’t swooning… They both looked stunning.
Sally & Steven: I met with Sally and Steven in Melbourne last year. A destination wedding in Margaret River was about their Plan C or D, after multiple obstacles and challenges in their home town. The guests were all delighted to be in Margs, for a whole week of celebrations and getting to know each other in a fabulous region.
Anna & Adam: Oh stormy day! I have a thing, where if I’m looking for something, I pray to St Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. I asked him to find me some blue sky. He delivered!
James & Laragh: I met this couple for the first time, in person, just minutes before their ceremony. They married on the porch of their AirBnB overlooking the ocean, with just a clutch of family members present. Very intimate, very sweet.
Natasha & Juli: We named their ceremony “the start of the Tash & Julz Roadshow”, as their elopement nuptials were to be the start of a series of road trips to celebrate with families and friends all around the country. Their witness and best mate surprised them with a very cool DIY arbor made from pallets, LED lights and garden items obtained from his workplace, Bunnings.
Kiara & Paul: Not into public displays, the couple chose a quiet tree on the farm Margaret River Heartland and married with just a small gathering of friends and some family. We roamed the farm together the day prior, where I got very distracted looking for fairies and rabbit holes with their daughter.
Ciara & Zach: Another blowy day, but the couple remained determined to marry with their toes in the sand at Bunker Bay beach. Being windy, and a weekday, they had the entire beach to themselves. Pretty special!
Tim & Kimberley: Smart pair of cookies, set up an aisle and ceremony indoors, in their holiday home overlooking the ocean. Guests really do appreciate these moves to ensure the ceremony is relaxed and out of severe weather! The sun appeared at the moment they were exchanging vows, casting a beautiful light on to their faces, and making us believe, that yes, miracles happen.
Dirk & Anya: I travelled to Perth for this couple’s intimate wedding by the Swan River. They were majestic in their velvet and black, with eyes only for each other.
Olivia & Jesse: Autumn is a beautiful time to marry at the bush chapel at Eight Willows Retreat. The sun is lower, backlighting the trees, and allowing the guests to be without it shining in their eyes.
Craig & Saowanee: My goodness, they asked for a basic ceremony, and that’s what they got. Seated at the kitchen table, with some flowers from the garden, and cups of coffee in front of the witnesses. I still wore a flower crown though — couldn’t help myself.
And that’s it. My 2022-2023 season in two parts. I know I say this every year, but I think this one was my busiest yet.
I attribute my “busyness” to a little app called Studio Ninja, which I started using this year. It helps me streamline all the “to do” lists, and the “next steps” with couples, meaning I could take on a little bit more work.
If you’re a business owner looking for a compact little app that will help you organise your processes, invoicing, and customer relationships, I can recommend Studio Ninja. (Pssst use the promo code BRHV83Q18091N8 and we both get 20% off our subscriptions!)
Massive love and gratitude,
