So you have decided to elope in Margaret River? Good for you! As someone who eloped herself, I am possibly the most understanding Celebrant EVER when it comes to supporting you through your decision to elope.

(In fact, I’d love you to run away and get married without the politics, stress or expense!)

Here are some elopement ideas and wedding packages to inspire you to have your elopement / micro wedding in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.

Forget the ceremony — I just want a Registry Office style “married in a minute” service

For those couples who just want to do the legals with absolutely zero fuss. We can arrange to meet somewhere that requires no travel for me (hence saving you travel fees), and get legally married, with a bare-bones ceremony. No readings, no guests, no dressing up (well, maybe a little bit!)… Just the basics. No booking fee required, but you do need to book a time and date to suit us both. Who has done this? I’ve married couples in my art studio, under the peppy tree outside my art studio, in hotel rooms, and even one couple while sitting at a table at the pub! Most don’t dress up. They just rock up.

The easiest-peasiest budget-friendly elopement package:
“Micro, 2 guests, Cowaramup area”

Get married at the Margaret River Heartland where I’m setting up dozens of romantic, bohemian and naturally-beautiful spots to say “I do.”

For example:

• Stand next to the dramatic dead tree (pictured, and featured in this video);
• Under the 80-year-old flame trees;
• In the natural forest;
• Under one of the dozens of majestic peppi trees;
• and the list goes on.

The Margaret River Heartland is located at 356 Miamup Rd, Cowaramup, Western Australia. Just 5 minutes from the township of Cowaramup and minutes from:

• Elite wineries such as Vasse Felix, Cullen Wines and Brookland Valley,
• Family-friendly places for a celebratory lunch — Cheeky Monkey (brewery with playground) or Hayshed Hill (rolling green lawns and lawn games),
• the Gracetown beach for a sun-soaked lazy afternoon of swimming, picnicking and napping.

Perhaps you have a specific spot in mind that you want me to travel to… This package will get me to locations within 25 minutes drive from Cowaramup and may include places such as:

• Gracetown beach, jetty or lookout,
• Pioneer Park in Cowaramup,
• Any winery, brewery, cidery, or chocolate company north of Margaret River,
• Any cave, forest, beach or lighthouse west or south of Margaret River to Augusta.

Small Wedding Package, Margaret River region, up to 20 guests

I often get asked the question: “We let it slip that we’re eloping, and now we have 10 guests who want to come… Can we still have an elopement package?”

In fact, I get asked this so often, what the hey, I’ve created a package for these situations… It’s the “Small Wedding, less than 20 guests” option. This includes travel to anywhere within a 30-minute radius of Margaret River township.

Conditions (How you qualify for an elopement package)

1.  All weddings need 2 witnesses, so you can invite 2 guests, or thereabouts. Or less than 20 for a “small wedding”. Any more than 20 guests and it becomes a “wedding”. (Or a bespoke micro wedding, if you want the ultimate in easy wedding planning.)
2.  I’ll send you a sample ceremony that you can scribble on and massage wording to suit yourselves. It’s the perfect length for elopements — not so short you’ll wonder what just happened, and not so long that you’ll drift off. You can source your own readings and so on, but you won’t have access to my ceremony planning kit.
3.  You can apply for a 3pm Saturday wedding, but if I get a booking for a larger (full fee) wedding at that time, I ask that you be flexible and prepared to move your ceremony forward or back by a couple of hours.
4.  That’s about it!

Frequently Asked Questions About Eloping

Q:  Can it really be as simple as to do something in like a month or 2?
A:  Yes! You need to lodge your NOIM form with me at least one calendar month prior, but that’s the only limitation with regards to “time”. Lodge it with me on the 15th, and you can marry on or from the 15th of the following month.

Q:  Can our wedding be small – just ourselves and our 2 children?
A:  Yes! You do need two witnesses over the age of 18 and that speak English, but apart from that it can be as small as you like!

Q:  What if we have to cancel? (Refund policy)
A:  In case of cancellation by the couple, fees are not refundable, but are transferable to another date or service by Anita. In case of cancellation by the Celebrant, 100% of fees paid are refundable, or a replacement Celebrant will be sourced on your behalf. In case of events out of both our control (eg Covid-19), 50% of fees paid are refundable or transferable to a new date in the future.

Q:  Can we Facetime our wedding so our relatives can watch it around the world?
A:  Yes! You can Skype it, Glider it, Instagram it, tweet it, Facebook it… Whatever your app, I’m happy for you to record / share your ceremony in any way you like.
